Apollo Multi-Speciality Hospital has acquired a property comprising of 1.4 acres land with a partially constructed hospital building with built up area of more than 74,000 square feet and medical equipments in Sonarpur, Kolkata, from Future Oncology Hospital and Research Centre (Future) through an assets purchase process.
The first phase of the hospital with 225 beds built over 1.75 lakh square feet will be commissioned in the next 12 months and will bring Apollo's hallmark levels of care to more consumers in the eastern region by delivering healthcare across all broad and high-end specialties including a comprehensive Oncology services with Radiotherapy. The acquisition is being fully funded by Apollo Multi Speciality Hospitals through its own internal accruals.
The acquisition is allied to the current business and would inter alia result in growth opportunities in line with the strategic directions of the company. The company has acquired assets for total consideration of Rs 102 crore.
The said acquisition is an important step in the company's strategy to expand in key regions through brownfield and greenfield projects. The firm will further augment its capacity in the East by an addition of another 700 beds over the next 3 years, taking the total bed count for Apollo in eastern region to 2500.

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise is a private sector healthcare provider. It owns and operates hospitals across the country.
The healthcare major's consolidated net profit slipped 47.48% to Rs 166.6 crore in Q1 FY24 as compared to Rs 317.2 crore in Q1 FY23. Revenue from operations stood at Rs 4,417.8 crore during the quarter, up 16.39% from Rs 3,795.6 crore recorded in the same period last fiscal.
