During the month of February 2024, Gas Distribution sector’s Marketcap decreased -9.45% to Rs 374981.92 crore, compared to 43.05% rise in total listed marketcap to Rs 38849922.4 crore.

Sector’s share of total listed marketcap moved to 0.97% in February 2024 from 1.52% in January 2023 and 1.56% in January 2022.


In terms of price appreciation in the sector, there were 7 gainers and 2 losers in the month of Feb 2024. The gainers accounted for 77.78% of sector companies, losers accounted for 22.22% of sector companies.

The top 3 gainers were GAIL (India) (8.37% gain), Mahanagar Gas (6.87% gain) and Petronet LNG (6.70% gain).

The 2 losers at the bottom were Gujarat Gas (-0.62% fall) and Guj.St.Petronet (-0.03% fall).

During the month Gujarat State Petronet Ltd, Deep Energy Resources Ltd, Gujarat Gas Ltd and Deep Industries Ltd announced their results. DIIs increased their shareholding in Petronet LNG Ltd from 4.84% to 9.92%, Indraprastha Gas Ltd from 20.72% to 22.10%, Mahanagar Gas Ltd from 15.50% to 16.72%, Gujarat Gas Ltd from 13.01% to 13.96% and GAIL (India) Ltd from 18.97% to 19.21%. DIIs reduced their shareholding in Gujarat State Petronet Ltd from 24.87% to 24.45%.
